The Club was formed in April 2002 through the merger of Rugby & District Athletic Club and Northampton Phoenix Athletic Club, two clubs with long and proud histories dating back more than a century.

The Club is one of the leading clubs in the UK, competing in national & regional T&F and CC leagues.

The Club has numerous international athletes, including Jo Jennings, Steve Phillips, Emma Merry and Ellena Ruddock.

New members who join Rugby and Northampton AC will receive an immediate email acknowledgement from the club advising the best way to join in with the club activities (subject to Rugby and Northampton AC having created the welcome message). All new members will be given the default status of "guest member", which will be upgraded to "full club member" after they have become known to the club.

Existing members of Rugby and Northampton AC will be upgraded by the Club Administrator to "full club member" status after joining. This means existing members can enter competition events (including league track & field, cross country and open events) into the club and county diary. Athletes will be contactable by County team managers. Volunteer officials and marshals will be contactable by local competition organisers (if they declare such an interest).
