Derwent Athletic club was created in 1973 with the merger of West Cumberland AC & Derwent Track runners. It is based in the clubhouse which is situated on Kirkgate. We meet to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:30. If you're unsure about joining a club, please feel free to come and join in for a few session to see if it's for you. New members, of any standard, are always welcome.

The club organises several races each year. Incluing the Cumberland Ale 10
