Derwent Athletic club was created in 1973 with the merger of West Cumberland AC & Derwent Track runners. The clubhouse has a well-equipped modern training room Concentrating on middle & long distance members are of all standards. The club organises several races each year. Organised training runs from the clubhouse are on roads, fells or riverside paths. Several exchange tours have been made with European clubs.
