Derwent Athletic club was created in 1973 with the merger of West Cumberland AC & Derwent Track runners. It is based in the clubhouse which is situated on Kirkgate. We meet to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:30. If you're unsure about joining a club, please feel free to come and join in for a few session to see if it's for you. New members are, of any standard, always welcome.

New members who join Derwent Athletic Club [Cockermouth] will receive an immediate email acknowledgement from the club advising the best way to join in with the club activities (subject to Derwent Athletic Club [Cockermouth] having created the welcome message). All new members will be given the default status of "guest member", which will be upgraded to "full club member" after they have become known to the club.

Existing members of Derwent Athletic Club [Cockermouth] will be upgraded by the Club Administrator to "full club member" status after joining. This means existing members can enter competition events (including league track & field, cross country and open events) into the club and county diary. Athletes will be contactable by County team managers. Volunteer officials and marshals will be contactable by local competition organisers (if they declare such an interest).
