DASH Athletics Club provides opportunities for all athletes aged from 6 years old through to senior age groups to fulfill their potential and have fun in athletics. We are a friendly, family-orientated club, and provide athletics for athletes of any age, background, level of experience or ability.
All of our coaching is done by UK Athletics - Qualified coaches, who are fully trained in many areas such as first aid, child protection and club equity, as well as technical athletics event coaching. We invite all parents and older athletes to attend a coaching course if they wish, and take great pride in the fact that almost every athlete chooses to train as a coach also when they are old enough. We have recently been awarded the prestigious Sport England Clubmark Award, a certificate of excellence, that has so far been awarded to only a tiny fraction of the UK's fourteen-hundred athletics and running clubs. Clubmark assessment is rigorous and looks at important aspects of the club, such as our competition and training programmes; child protection policy; sports equity; ethics and club management. Clubmark is an acknowledgement that we take all of these things seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for all participants in the sport.
The Clubmark award stands alongside our recent UK Athletics Awards for UK development Coach of The Year 2006 for Club Coach Geoff Barratt, and UK Athletis Club Innovation Runners-Up Award 2006. In 2007 DASH AC was voted North West Junior Club of The Year, and North West Track & Field Club of The Year, by England Athletics. Over the past two years we have begun an exciting transformation from an athletics development group into a fully-affiliated track and field athletics club, making this an excellent time to be involved in DASH Athletics Club. We are also proud of our links with key club sponsors, Warburtons Bakery, who have supplied significant funds to enable us to get new sportshall athletics equipment. We have also attracted support from Barclays Bank, and we are currently in the process of submitting several major grant applications to the National Lottery, Sport England, and other funding sources. These will help support our ambitious plans for the development of DASH Athletics Club, as we move towards London 2012.
